Galvanized gabion beskets are used in the construction of airports and other projects, and also for blast barriers for military purposes. Galvanized wire mesh mats or basket meshes are mainly composed of square or rectangular open welded plates. The gabion baskets are rectangular in shape, which makes them easy to lay and strong in construction.
Galvanized & PVC Coated Gabions for Riverbank
Riverbank projects face constant hydraulic shear stress, water abrasion, and fluctuating wet/dry cycles. Ordinary galvanized mesh can rust prematurely when exposed to acidic water or UV radiation.
Our PVC Coated Gabions provide a double layer of protection. The core is high-tensile galvanized or Galfan steel, encased in a heavy-duty PVC sleeve. This design isolates the steel from the corrosive environment, ensuring a structural lifespan of 50–70 years in riverine and maritime applications.
1. Exceptional Corrosion Resistance
Our PVC coating is specifically formulated to resist UV degradation and chemical corrosion found in river silt and agricultural runoff. It remains flexible in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +60°C without cracking.
2. Hydraulic Permeability
Unlike rigid concrete linings, gabion structures are naturally porous. They allow the free flow of groundwater, eliminating the build-up of hydrostatic pressure that causes many retaining walls to fail.
3. Bio-Engineering & Ecological Restoration
The voids between the stones in our riverbank gabions eventually fill with silt, encouraging the growth of native vegetation. This integrates the structure into the natural landscape, creating a "living wall" that strengthens over time.
4. Flexibility in Moving Ground
The double-twisted hexagonal mesh structure is inherently flexible. It can accommodate significant differential settlement and ground movement without losing its structural integrity—a critical feature for riverbanks and unstable slopes.
